Special Request Shakespeare Art: Sonnet 18 Illustration

By special request, I created this artwork for Sonnet 18.  Playing with Elizabethan lace as the graphic inspiration, I tried to weave elements from the visuals of the poem: flowers, wind, and the warmth of the summer sun.

The original sketch is worked with fine pencil, then overlaid in black ink.  I then work watercolour and Sennelier inks over the lacey  lines for the full colour finish.

Hamlet journal appears in Hamlet!

A wonderful customer story:
"My husband gave me your beautiful Hamlet Journal last Christmas. This past fall I got to play Hamlet and I used the journal for the "Words words words" scene.
"Our production of Hamlet was a directing thesis for my directing class mate and dear friend Brad Raimondo at The New School for Drama MFA program here in NYC. The production went off extremely well and both Brad and I could not have asked for a better success as we look forward to graduating in the Spring."
"My husband Michael gave me the book last Christmas and, being beyond supportive of me and my crazy dreams, wrote Polonius' line on the first page, "This above all, to thine own self be true."

Thanks so much for sharing your story with us John... and we're sure you need no luck with your MFA but all the best wishes from us!
